The Kira Niro EV (also referred to as the Kia e-Niro 2) landed on the market in 2022, serving as the successor to the popular Kia e-Niro. One of the standout improvements which Kia made to their newer addition was a ultra fast-charging feature, which allowed drivers to top their vehicle battery to full within just 40 minutes.
This has been paired with an innovative regenerative braking system to ensure heightened efficiency and range. This feature captures energy which is normally lost in braking and uses it to recharge the battery of the vehicle while you’re on the go.
All Kia Niro EVs come with a touchscreen and infotainment system. This will be 8 inches wide in the case of older models, but extends to an impressive 20 inches for newer ones. These offer navigation, diagnostics, and immersive car information features, as well as the ability to play music.
Safety has also been kept at the forefront of every design choice. Some of the key features you’ll find in the e-Niro include stability control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and a rearview camera. The Kia Niro EV is charged in much the same way as any electric vehicle, with the amount of time it takes to fill the battery varying depending on where you’re charging. The shortest amount of time that a 22kW home charging unit might take is around the 6-hour mark. By contrast, charging at a public point could see it topped up in anywhere from 40-50 minutes.
The expected range of a Kia Niro EV is 285 miles on a full charge. That works out at an estimated running cost of 7.12p per mile.
