Going Further: SHS-P Strengthens the JAECOO Range at Waylands

As JAECOO continues to establish itself in the UK, its Super Hybrid System – SHS-P – is becoming an increasingly important part of the brand’s proposition and the growing JAECOO range available through Waylands.

Combining substantial electric-only capability with the flexibility of petrol power, SHS-P has been developed for drivers looking to make greater use of electric driving without the range considerations that can come with moving to a fully electric vehicle.

And the figures behind the technology are increasingly difficult to ignore.

The JAECOO 7 SHS-P offers an official combined WLTP range of up to 745 miles, including up to 56 miles of electric-only driving. In a recent controlled economy challenge at the UTAC Millbrook proving ground, the same model travelled 828 miles on a single tank of fuel and one battery charge – exceeding its official combined WLTP figure by more than 11%.

SHS-P now extends beyond the JAECOO 7 too. The flagship JAECOO 8 SHS-P brings the technology to a larger, all-wheel-drive model, combining up to 83 miles of electric-only range with a total WLTP range of more than 700 miles, alongside 428 PS and seven-seat capability.

For Waylands, that development is significant. The growth of SHS-P gives the JAECOO franchise an increasingly strong position between conventional petrol and fully electric vehicles, allowing Waylands to offer customers a broader choice as individual requirements around electrification continue to evolve.

The level of customer uptake nationally also demonstrates the role the technology is already playing for JAECOO. When the JAECOO 7 became the UK’s best-selling new car in March 2026, 85% of those registrations were SHS-P models.

That combination of range, electric capability and customer demand makes SHS-P much more than another powertrain within the JAECOO line-up. It is becoming a defining part of the brand’s UK proposition.

For Waylands, it also strengthens an expanding franchise with technology that responds directly to one of the key considerations facing customers today: how to benefit from electrification while retaining the flexibility to travel further when needed.
