What is the difference between Volvo XC60 T5 and T6?

  • The main difference between the T5 engine and T6 engine, is the T5 is turbocharged whilst the T6 engine is supercharged. Both engines are standard 2.0 litre petrol engines, however due to the T5 being turbocharged, it generates 250 break horsepower, and the T6 generates 310 break horsepower.
  • The T5 and T6 engines are being replaced by B5 and B6 engines as Volvo have introduced two new recharge engine specs being T6 twin engine and T8 twin engine. Both T6 and T8 engines are Plug-In Hybrids, the new T6 generates 350 break horsepower, and the new T8 engine generates 455 break horsepower.
  • The new B6 engine offers 295 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, plus an additional 13 lb-ft of torque from the small electric motor. This translates into less horsepower than the T6, but more torque which means faster acceleration and better passing.
