Polestar 3 Breaks Guinness World Record for Longest Distance by an Electric SUV on a Single Charge

If you’ve ever wondered how far an electric car can really go, the Polestar 3 has just given the world a jaw-dropping answer: 581.3 miles on a single charge. This luxury electric SUV has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance travelled by an electric SUV without plugging in.

The record-breaking journey

The attempt took place on UK public roads and was completed in a completely standard Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor with no modifications, no secret tweaks. Three professional efficiency drivers, Sam Clarke, Kevin Booker and Richard Parker, took turns behind the wheel over 22 hours and 57 minutes, navigating a mix of A and B roads and some dual carriageways.

The journey began near Norwich and pushed well past the car’s already impressive official WLTP range of 438 miles. Even more impressively, the Polestar 3 hit that figure with 20% battery still left, and kept going for another 8 miles after reaching 0%, before arriving safely at a charger.

Official recognition and real-world proof

Guinness World Records judge Paulina Sapinska was on hand to verify the achievement, with the attempt documented by Webfleet, Bridgestone’s trusted fleet management solution. The car ran on standard 20-inch wheels fitted with Michelin Sport 4 EV tyres, the same setup you’d get straight from the showroom.

Despite heavy rain, standing water, traffic delays, and even a friendly visit from the police (who wished the team luck once they heard about the challenge), the Polestar 3 delivered incredible efficiency: 19.5kWh per 100 miles (5.13 m/kWh).

“The myth that EVs can’t go far is history”

Matt Galvin, Polestar UK Managing Director, summed it up perfectly:

“For a large luxury SUV to go way beyond a London to Edinburgh distance is truly impressive. This record proves long journeys are perfectly achievable in an EV. Add in rapid charging of up to 250kW, enough to go from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes, and the myth that ‘EVs can’t go far’ is well and truly history.”
