​Vehicle Service Technician Apprenticeship

Are you enthusiastic about cars and have a passion to learn!

Then kickstart your career as a year 1 apprentice vehicle service technician with Waylands Kia Reading. As an apprentice service technician, you will be trained in all areas of vehicle technology including engines, advanced electrics, service and maintenance, fault diagnosis, and electric and hybrid vehicle principles.

We are looking for an apprentice to join our Kia dealership in Reading. The apprenticeship will be a 3-year programme.

Duties will include:

• Servicing vehicles by carrying out checks and maintenance
• Repairing and replacing faulty parts
• Developing an understanding of workshop equipment, working principles and business objectives
• Advising the service receptionists about required repairs and communicating with customers
• Producing time and work required estimates
• Maintaining repair, service records and customer information

Training and qualification levels

Training will be delivered using a combination of on-the-job training, remote learning and block release classroom training at the Kia approved college. 

On successful completion of the three-year programme, you will receive the following: 

• Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard in Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) 

• Certificate in Automotive Refrigerant Handling 

• Brand specific certifications

Our ideal candidate will be a practical person with a desire to learn, enjoys being part of a team and who is committed to completing this three-year training programme and has the following skills:

• GCSE Maths & English (Grade 4 or above)

Salary, hours and benefits

• 40 hours per week (8:30am-5:00pm)
• £22,568 per annum
• 31 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays)
